My son is now two months old and I am dying to get back outside and on some good hikes, but I also don't want to leave him with someone else. How long have other people waited until they thought it was appropriate to take their baby hiking?
Congrats Emily! To be honest, you're not going to find a black/white answer. Trust me I already looked. I took my son with me in a sling when he was two months old, and we didn't have any issues at all. Just remember to bring all your essentials, including sunscreen, and also plan to take a lot longer than you normally would. Have fun!
Don't forget to bring your bear mace! I've heard from more than a few hikers that a soiled diaper can attract animals. I don't think it is anything to worry about, but better safe than sorry.
